Wow, what a year! I had three books come out in 2023: When We Hold Each Other Up (novella), Fighting for the Future: Cyberpunk and Solarpunk Tales (edited anthology), and A Shot of Gin (debut novel). I couldn’t be more thankful for all the readers, people who purchased my books, universities and bookstores that hosted me, and all the reviewers and interviewers! Thank YOU for making 2023 special!
In 2024, I’ll be querying my next novel with agents, a dark academia story called DO NOT GO GENTLE. I also plan to focus on shorter works. I’ve churned out a lot of longform writing in the past few years, including a dissertation, so I want to focus again on short stories. I have about a dozen ideas that I’m excited for, and I haven’t had the time to work on them due to all the novels and novellas…though I may have two more novellas I’m drafting (what can I say, it’s the perfect balance between short stories and the soul-sucking joy of novel writing).
I’m ending 2023 with a few submissions sent out into the wild–revise and resubmit on my short story collection and a literary short story I’d love to see land somewhere. I’m not sure what 2024 will hold–I’m manifesting an agent–but I had a blast with debut year. I hope my books and others bring you joy, hope, and entertainment in the year to come!
